Secondary School Sport

At GCC, we’re proud to offer a vibrant and well-rounded Physical Education and Sports Program. While we may be a smaller school, our facilities and sporting opportunities are anything but limited.

Facilities & Equipment

  • Modern Gymnasium: Spacious, high-quality, and fully equipped for a wide range of sports.
  • New Outdoor Astroturf Area: Multi-purpose surface with basketball and netball rings.
  • Outdoor Fields: Includes a modified footy field and soccer pitch located behind the gym.

We’re well equipped to deliver a diverse PE curriculum, with resources to support students in both individual and team sports.

Comprehensive PE Curriculum

Throughout the school year, students participate in a wide variety of sports, including:

  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Badminton
  • Team Handball
  • Volleyball
  • Floor Hockey
  • Netball
  • AFL
  • Golf
  • Hot Shots Tennis
  • Pickleball
  • Table Tennis
  • Athletics
  • Tchouckball
  • Futsal
  • Baseball
  • Ultimate Frisbee

Each sport is taught with a focus on skill development, technique, and game strategy. Strength, speed, and agility are also embedded into each class session. Our experienced PE teachers ensure students are challenged, supported, and continuously improving.

Interschool Sport & Competitions

GCC is an active member of the Upper Hume District in the Hume Region. Students in Years 7–12 regularly represent the school in interschool competitions against eight other schools from the Wodonga and Wangaratta areas.

We participate in:

  • Individual Sports: Athletics, swimming, and cross country
  • Team Sports: Table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and badminton

As our student numbers and interest grow, we plan to expand our participation in additional team sports.

Badminton Excellence

Our badminton program has been a standout success over the past five years. Many of our teams have advanced to regional and state-level competitions.

  • 2024: Three teams qualified for the state championships.
  • 2025: Five teams represented GCC at the state level in Melbourne.

Join Our Sporting Community

At GCC, sport is more than just physical activity—it’s about teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit. Whether students are training in PE class or representing GCC on the regional stage, they’re encouraged to push their limits and take pride in their achievements.
